Highbury is Now Luxury Apartments

12 September 2008 | No Comments »

I was at work today when I was looking at Arsenal.com and I saw a banner ad at the top of the page promoting apartments for sale in Highbury. I couldn’t resist clicking on it, even though I absolutely abhor banner ads and the increase in page load times they create (not to mention destroying design aesthetic). The feeling in my stomach and the fear in my heart proved to be true: they’ve turned the old Arsenal Stadium, Highbury, into luxury apartments that start at the low, low asking price of £345,000 or approximately $617,000 USD (at time of publication). Take a look at the site bragging about this atrocity and view the photo gallery. Any true Gooner should be repulsed. The place should be an f-ing museum, not a rich man’s shitbox.

Arsenal Out on Barry Signing

4 August 2008 | 1 Comment »

Arsene Wenger confirmed today that he is no longer in the hunt with Liverpool to sign Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry. The 27 year-old Englishman appears to be leaving Villa Park one way or another, but it is not to be to the Emirates.
Taking this info to heart can only mean one thing, and that is that Arsene Wenger is hot on the pursuit of another midfielder with the summer seeing the departures of Mathieu Flamini, Alexander Hleb and Gilberto Silva. All rumors tease of a new signing in the form of Liverpool’s and Spain’s Xabi Alonso, and, if the The Reds succeed in luring away Barry, the door to the Emirates for Xabi could be wide open.
