The injury news has started already for Arsenal with Samir Nasri suffering a fractured fibula at training preceding today’s match against SC Columbia in Austria. The injury to the midfielder is an early setback for the starting lineup for the Gunners, suggesting that Arsene Wenger will be more likely to let loose of the purse strings and make a more aggressive bid for either Huntelaar or Chamakh (or perhaps even agressive midfielder Lorik Cana).

Nasri Out 2-3 Months with Fractured Fibula

20 February 2009 | No Comments » | lexWell, it was a great showing against Cardiff (even though they’re a Fizzy Pop team), with Eduardo making his return to the first team at the Emirates. A great goal at around minute 20 (thanks, Bendtner, for getting out of the way), and another on a PK. Too bad Eduardo’s out for two weeks with a hammy injury, but at least it’s not the leg again. RVP was able to wipe the froth from his lips after his contribution, as well. Bendtner joined the action as well. The ball saw more woodwork than net it seemed again, but we got goals, didn’t we?
The new I-sure-as-hell-hope-you-are-worth-the-money-and-trouble signing, Andrei Arshavin, will debut in a Gunners shirt, but it remains unclear if he will start or be subbed in (I predict the latter). Look for Bendtner and RVP up front, Eboue back from suspension and Djourou back from illness while Cesc and Adebayor remain out.
So, now that you’re up to speed since you’re not paying attention, get yer arse outta bed bright n’ early, sunshine, and drag it on down to Beulahland, NE 28th at Couch. The pub’s web site and blackboard has it listed at 6:40 a.m. or 5:30 p.m., but I think the live kickoff is actually at 7 a.m. Don’t be a ponce and watch the replay…Jimmi’s opening early for all you Gooners, so show some support and appreciation!
One more thing…ON YA GUNNERS! BE CHAMPIONS, LIKE!
Andrei Arshavin is a Gunner!
4 February 2009 | No Comments » | lexSo, it finally happened, the Zenit St. Petersburg playmaker has arrived at Ashburton Grove and is now in an Arsenal shirt. The transfer went down to the window’s wire, with an agreement on the transfer fee and the player’s salary plus other considerations submitted just before the 5:00 p.m. deadline.
With all the business out of the way it remains to be seen if Arshavin can make an impact in the team immediately in the ongoing absence of Cesc Fabregas and Theo Walcott. Arshavin has admitted that he is not quite in 100% match fitness as he was only in pre-season training in Russia. Will there a be collective cheer for the Russian or one gigantic Gooner gasp?
Nasri out yet again for Bolton
19 September 2008 | No Comments » | lexPlaymaker Samir Nasri will yet again be sidelined while nursing a knee injury. This second trip to Lancashire in one week to face Bolton Wanderers will also be without the assistance of Mikael Silvestre (listed as a “muscle” injury), Tomas Rosicky (hamstring), Abou Diaby (thigh), Amaury Bischoff (groin) and striker Eduardo (leg).
If the showing at Kyiv against Dynamo is any indication the squad should be fit to run through Bolton even with these significant absences. Be on the lookout for RVP, Theo, Cesc and Ade to be up front early on for a strong attack to go up over the Trotters. Theo’s playmaking has been a much needed boost with Nasri out of the lineup, so expect him to continue that trend on Saturday.
